DESCRIPTION


ONITA contains Strontium ranelate, a strontium (II) salt of ranelic acid which is used for the treatment of osteoporosis. Strontium ranelate is made up of 2 atoms of stable strontium and 1 molecule of ranelic acid, the organic part permitting the best compromise in terms of molecular weight, pharmacokinetics and acceptability of the drug. It is chemically designated as distrontium 5-[bis (2-oxido-2-oxoethyl) amino]-4-cyano-3-(2-oxido-2-oxoethyl) thiophene-2-carboxylate and molecular formula is C12H6 N2 O8 SSr2
